If carnival can be defined as a time of toppling, parody, regeneration, and foolishness then Feste’s final song is a fitting finale to an already comically foolish play. The final song in Shakespeare’s comedy Twelfth Night uses parody and symbolism to show the importance of foolishness and laughter, regenerative qualities and the unavoidable necessity of carnival.
